“You’ve got to have Friends”

Four images with the title "Friends of UGAMI Work Weekend Labor Day 2024" at the top. In the left photo, six people paint the interior of a screened in hallway. They face the camera with smiles and are arranged on ladders, stools, and the ground. In the top photo, a man power-washes the wall of the interior screened in hallway. In the bottom photo, five people stand smiling with a paint tray and roller in hand. In the right photo, a woman has taken a smiling selfie standing to the left of frame. On the right in the background are several people smiling towards the camera as they assemble wooden bridges that extend into the marsh. The marsh grass is lush green behind them and the sky is blue with fluffy clouds above the trees in the distance.

The Friends of UGAMI hard at work on Labor Day weekend 2024.

The Friends of UGAMI visited the Institute over Labor Day for one of their “work weekends”, and got down to it. They power-washed and started painting the BIRL dormitory and also worked on repairing the Teal Boardwalk. They were joined by Anna Stenport, Dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at UGA, and family, who provided additional sets of hands that were all very much appreciated.
