L to R: UGAMI Director Merryl Alber, Congressman Carter, and Doug Samson (Reserve Manager, Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve) at Nannygoat Beach on Sapelo Island.

U.S. Representative Earl “Buddy” Carter (Georgia, 1st district) visited Sapelo Island to learn about the research and education programs at UGAMI. He had a chance to tour the Institute, interact with researchers, and meet with a group of volunteers from the Friends of UGAMI. He also met with our partners from the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources and the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve.
